Representatives of the IUF, our colleages Svetlana Boincean (IUF Moscow agricultural coordinator) and Vicky Kanyoka from the IUF's Tanzanian affiliate CHODAWU also participated in the Forum and represented the IUF at the 3rd International Workshop on Domestic Work, also held in Manila.
Vicky Kanyoka is member of the Steering Committee of the International network Respect and Rights for Domestic/household workers.

demonstrate concern for the unacceptable, often inhumane, circumstances of domestic workers and;
1. ensure that national labour laws offer full protection
to domestic workers
2.establish a legal complaints framework for
immediate action on grievances with swift and
appropriate remedy
3. support the ongoing work of the ILO and work to
build consensus to see the adoption of a Domestic
Workers Convention in 2011.

2008, Manila, FilipinasEstimadas amigas y estimados amigos:
Queríamos darles una actualización con información preliminar sobre actividades independientes de la sociedad civil que están siendo organizadas para responder al Foro Global sobre Migración y Desarrollo (FGMD) en Manila, Filipinas en octubre 2008.
La "Acción Global de los Pueblos sobre Migración, Desarrollo y Derechos Humanos", o PGA por sus sigla en inglés, será realizado del 22 al 30 de octubre 2008 en Manila, Filipinas, antes y durante el FGMD (que se celebrará del 27 al 30 de octubre). Al seguiente enviamos información sobre los planes hasta ahora para el evento. Les enviaremos más información en poco tiempo.
Los planes son resultados de discusiones que comenzaron en reuniones realizadas el 11 y el 12 de Julio 2008 entre representantes del Philppine Working Group (Grupo de Trabajo de las Filipinas) (PWG), una coalición de organizaciones en las Filipinas*, y grupos de otros paises de Asia y de otras regiones globales, incluso miembros de Migrant Forum in Asia, Migrants Rights International (Plataforma para Cooperación Internacional sobre Migrantes Indocumentados (PICUM) (Europa), Red Nacional Pro Derechos Inmigrantes y Refugiados (NNIRR)(EEUU), Institut de Recherche et de Promotion des Alternatives en Développement – IRPAD (West Africa), and Centro de Estudios Legales y Sociales - CELS (Argentina)), Fédération Internacionales des Ligues des Droits de l'Homme (FIDH), Human Rights Watch, Confederación Sindical Internacional (CSI), Internacional de Trabajadores de la Construcción y la Madera (ICM), el Consejo Global Unions (CGU), and La Alianza Global contra la Trata de Mujeres (GAATW).
